Operated under the watchful direction of Lindsay Reedman, Reedman's Sheetmetal in Atherton specialised in more than just sheetmetal fabrication. With a fully equipped workshop featuring specialty equipment such as the innovative Techni Waterjet Cutting System and one of the only slitter folders on the Atherton Tablelands.

“There are a lot of aspects to what we do here especially since our new equipment arrived,” he says.

“We can now make 8.2m Colorbond custom flashings with any of the standard Colorbond range,” he said. “The majority of our customers are builders, plumbers and renovators who need results fast so we always cater for that.”

The business now has one of the only five axis abrasive waterjet cutting machines in the region and we service the entire North Queensland region including Cairns, Atherton, Mareeba & Innisfail. The Techni Waterjet Cutting System means we can cut a 60-degree angle at 360-degree angles and cut through granite, glass, marble, steel and other types of material up to 105mm with ease.

The waterjet is a versatile, powerful and accurate machine. It can also cut through materials like aluminium, plastic, rubber, wood, copper, stone and more. Due to its extremely high pressure and the most advanced cutting head available, even the most intricate patterns can be cut out. It also means that that we can produce high quality parts and gaskets at affordable prices.

One of the main advantages of the waterjet cutting system is its inherent cold cutting quality. This allows materials to be cut that would be burned, melted or cracked by other cutting methods. Materials cut with the waterjet undergo no thermal stress, eliminating such undesirable results.

The waterjet has a very advanced computer program and all our customer has to do is bring in or email their CAD drawing or DXF files to us and we can do the rest. Alternatively, they can bring in a drawing or design on a USB stick and our advanced programs will convert them to files compatible with our machine.

As well as steel and aluminium fabrication Reedman's has supplied dropside bodies, ute trays, tool boxes, trailers and truck trays to businesses and the general public for more than a decade. On average we make about 300 ute trays a year with each tray abrasive blasted and primed before being painted in our own blast room and paint room.

We also cater for outside work, blasting and painting second-hand trays, motorbike frames, trailers and various smaller items such as old milk cans and sewing machine frames.
